The blazer is a male wardrobe essential which has its origin in the Navy uniforms. Although, they are very similar to more formal jacket, the blazer (or sport jacket) has a cut much more casual, and usually is accompanied by certain more sporty details such as the elbow pads or metal buttons. This jacket was originally double breasted, a cut that specially favored members of yacht clubs, who began to use them as a trademark. The blazer is part of pop culture and is living history of fashion, from Prince Charles who still wears their favourites, the double breasted ones, passing through almost all of the actors who have played James Bond. Without a doubt, one of my favorite is Sir Roger Moore in 'The spy who loved me' from whom I have clearly taken more than one reference.

For this last challenge proposed by Tailor4Less, the tailoring-custom online company, I wanted to reinterpret this garment and make it my own, combining details of the classic blazer with others more current and in a much more contemporary style. First of all, instead of the double breasted cut, I have chosen the single breasted with two buttons, adding a slim fit cut with the classic flaps, also pockets with flap and double opening on the back. In terms of the material chosen, rather than the classic Navy Blue, colour par excellence of the traditional blazer, I've chosen black, a way to give a more current vibe to this piece, I opted for the 'Vetreli Black', from the premium collection of fabrics in merino wool 100%. A perfect fabric to wear all year long with a weight of 280 g/m2. For the liner, I wanted to make a british style wink by choosing an iconic patterned fabric with the traditional and recognisable tartan in shade of red. To add a vintage touch piece I opted for the typical metal buttons, which give an original note to the garment having in mind that this details is more characteristic in the double breasted blazers. This type of buttons have been very trendy lately, mostly, because we've been seen them frequently on the pieces from the French label Balmain. Finally, Finally, I have selected a lining for the neck part in deep red, a detail that adds character to the piece. The truth is I love the piece, fits like a glove after entering my height, weight and body type in the measurement calculator that includes the web site, I have to say that I modified by hand some of the measures for a more custom fit. If you want to be your own tailor and create your own sartorial style go to Tailor4Less to discover all the possibilities. I look forward to wear my brand new blazer so stay tune to my Instagram.
