Journalism has always been a dream of mine

 BBC Tours,

J
ournalism has always been a dream of mine. A thought that has been present in my life since I was a child. I remember that I used to play that I was a reporter using a hairbrush pretending that was a
microphone. Throughout my professional career, and without having previous studies related, I
have had the opportunity to achieve several of my professional goals. Thanks to a blog that I had, I
got a freelance job as online editor for a few websites, and also I have written articles for
magazines, and I have even collaborated on a local radio show. What I never got, and therefore I
want to be my perfect job, is to have my own TV show. I know that it is very difficult but nothing is
impossible, with effort, preparation and enthusiasm, everything is possible.

I have already thought about the name of the show: 'Live with Charly'. Charly we could say is my
alter ego, a nickname that I use on social media, a name that was given to my by my former
colleagues from my first job, a name that I honest believe that sounds very nice and quite different,
because is not Charlie, is Charly with 'y'. The TV program would be a late-night talk show inspired
by the style of the English-speaking shows such as the American James Corden, or the British
Graham Norton. The program would have a panel of discussion where fellow journalists and
comedians would be talking about breaking news of the day in funny way. Speaking about politics,
economics, entertainment topics and viral videos and news... everything under an ironic point of
view and with an acid and carefree editorial line. After this first part of the show, we would have a
guest, a celebrity or a current personality who would be interviewed by me. I would try to get its
fun side but respecting the persona first and foremost.

The program would also have a stage where artists and musicians would act with music and vocals
always live, nothing of lip syncs. On the same stage, everyday we would have a stand-up comedy
monologue as the last part of the show. Everyday a different comedian would address current affairs
from a critical and humorous view, and after this performance I would always say goodbye and
close the show.

I would love the show to be broadcast by a national television because right now there are no
programs such as this on national TV and we wouldn't have any competitors. The show would be
live, everyday from midnight until 1.30 a.m, and would be aired from Monday to Thursday. Every
night we would have a live audience to provide vitality and rhythm to the format. Although the
show would be based in Madrid, I'd like to travel once a month with all my crew to different cities
around Spain, bringing the show to different parts of the nation and interacting with the local
audience of each place visited.

I also have thought about the decoration of the set, It would be a very open space with two different
areas, a great stage for performances, and another space with a large table that would be replaced by
two sofas for the time of the interviews. The decoration of the set would be minimalist but with a
vintage touch including details with personality as antique furniture or a great lamp from the 70s,
for example. Everything simple but in a very eclectic way. The background would have a great
landscape of a city in the nighttime. As you can see, I have thought and planned everything, I can
only work hard and never stop dreaming in order to achieve the perfect job that without a doubt is
my dream job.

Why am I the perfect candidate to develop this job? First of all, I have to be very humble and right
now, let's be honest, I am not perfect perfect person to do it, not yet, I'm not ready. I'd like to finish
my journalism degree, then do a master's degree in radio and television. And in addition, I'd like to
take acting classes to complete my training. Once I'm ready, I can provide everything that I have
inside and show that I am the perfect candidate.

Between my qualities I'd like to highlight my positivity and my sense of humor, I'm always making
jokes with the most frivolous and absurd things that you can ever imagine, I admit that my humor
can be too tough sometimes, but at the same time, I am always making fun of myself. I have no fear
of being ridicule, I am spontaneous, nothing shy, and yes I am very straightforward. In addition, I'm
good at listening, something very important to be a good interviewer. Besides, I'm good at chatting,
I can talk of whatever matter or topic, I can have any kind of conversation, I'm not afraid of speak
my mind and actually, I have to recognise that I have a big mouth. I don't know if this is bad or
good, but it is what it is. In the same way, I'm very curious, I like to get to know people. Also, I like
to be informed, knowing what is going on, what is happening in the world, what is it that trending
topic that everyone is talking about. I like to feel connected to the world.

Ultimately, I would add huge doses of personality and hard work and effort. Who knows maybe one
day you see me on TV, and you think, look that was my student, I still remember what he wrote
years ago. I like to dream big and I hope that one day my dream becomes a reality. I am determined
to get it, trust me. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to express with words something that
has always been around my mind.

To sum up, I kinda love being a #radio personality, but if the TV does not work I alway can turn a #RadioHost. But to be honest with you, I think dreams come true.
